CLM is working with client Moorcroft Construction Limited to transform a derelict barn into four new family homes in Cheshire.

The project involves erecting a 16-ton steel frame into the existing building to turn it into a number of 3 story houses. For planning purposes, the outer walls of the building had to be conserved and repaired. The build also had to be completed in a tight time frame as the barn housed various species of animals, such as bats and owls, which were protected by conservation orders

The steel structure was used to add support to the original walls and build the internal floors and roof off. This was quite a challenge as the façade had fallen into a bad state of disrepair and CLM had to work to very tight tolerances on walls that were considerably out of square, whilst ensuring that the remaining room space was maximised.

The new homes are expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.

I have worked with CLM Services on a number of jobs over recent years, I have always found them to be very helpful, professional and always willing to assist in making sure the job is completed on time and most importantly, safely.
